Not sure about the access on this route?
At 329645 the track that takes you to Hawarden Castle is clearly marked ‘Private No Access’ and seems to be part of a private estate. Following the public footpath leaves you walking back to the car park along a very busy road which isn’t great for young kids.
The first part of the walk around the castle walls is very nice but I’m not sure about the access issue on the return leg. Given it’s a game shooting estate I was a bit dubious about ignoring the sign and letting my kids off their leads so ended up on the road.
A bonus of following the PFP was that there’s an old air-raid shelter at the back of the lodge just past 329645 which my kids really enjoyed wallowing in.
