A short slog to the hilltop St Catherine's chapel, then a long trudge on the Dorset Coast Path (coastal route) along the shingle beach with terrific views towards Golden Cap and Devon (worth walking on the shingle here for views of the sea - I ran this in a near-gale and loved it; it might be a bit tiresome walking the track with no sea view); a long but gradual climb from windblown West Bexington on the Dorset Coast Path inland route; back along the ridge, surprisingly remote from the not-busy main road, with fantastic views towards Portland; a final run down through wide, rough pasture to Abbotsbury with its stone cottages and vast Tithe Barn. A marginally shorter route drops into the village heading south east (and is described on the South West Coast Path website as a five-mile walk).
