North Guildford Nature Reserve

Details:

A short but relaxing walk by the river to the Nature reserve. A surprising place of tranquility right by the A3.

1) From the University head over Yorkies bridge and turn left along Walnut tree close. When you get to he river follow it to the main road near PC world

2) Carefully cross the road (use the traffic lights) and then Cross the river before taking a path down beside it. Follow the river for about a Kilometer.

3)Cross another road and once more follow the river up to the Lock. It get much more rural at this point. Here you can either head straight onto the board walk into the nature reserve or follow the River another 500-600m until a board walk leads of back on yourself.

4) Follow to the reservoir where a variety of rare birds can be found and recognized using the boards provided.

5) Head across the meadow. towards the far left corner and take a bridge under the A3. Follow the footpath markers away from the river up through the woods to the left and you arrive near the spectrum.

6)Cross into Stoke park and head towards the Big tree up on the Skyline. Then cut down to the road and railway bridge.

7) Go under the railway and turn immediately right down Markenfield rd. Go right at the end then left just before the Cafe and Railway bridge down an alleyway.

8)follow this over a wooden footbridge and you arrive back on Walnut tree close, turn left for the univeristy.

    Nice and short route. I can’t believe I worked at Spectrum for 18 months without knowing about the Nature Reserve!!
