Copyright / IP policy
1. Any capitalised terms used herein, which are not defined herein, have the same meaning as in the OEP Rules
2. The OEP is owned, provided and managed by Ordnance Survey, (acting on behalf of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government) whose principal place of business is at Romsey Road, SOUTHAMPTON, UK, SO16 4GU (the “Administrator”).
3. Subject to clause 8 below, the Crown and/or the Administrator is the owner or licensee of all copyright and other intellectual property rights subsisting in the OEP and in the materials published on it (including the Administrator Mapping Data ). This Copyright / IPR Policy and the OEP Rules shall not be construed to convey title to or ownership of the OEP, Administrator Mapping Data or other materials to the User.
4. You may use the content of the OEP (including the Administrator Mapping Data) solely in accordance with this Copyright / IPR Policy and the OEP Rules for personal, non-commercial use.
5. You may view the content of the OEP electronically, including any Administrator Mapping Data pertaining to a Map Transaction. If you have registered a Login you may also select areas or locations from the Administrator Mapping Data for navigation, use the drawing tools to create routes between different locations/waypoints and overlay objects on the display of Administrator Mapping Data (“Route Transactions”) and otherwise interact with the content on the OPE through Submissions, provided that all such interaction is in accordance with our Content Standards.
6. You may store any Route Transactions against your user profile and may print off up to ten (10) screen grabs of any Route Transaction, whether created by you or by other users. You must not remove, modify or alter any Crown / Administrator copyright and database right acknowledgements which appear on any printed copies.
7.You may link to the homepage and other pages within the OEP provided that you do so in a way that is fair and lawful, the link is not misleading nor deceptive, and the link must not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not establish a link for 'commercial purposes and/or financial gain', nor in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists. 'Commercial purposes/financial gain' includes, without limitation, promoting your commercial services or providing directional guidelines to the same. The Administrator reserves the right to withdraw linking permission without notice. The OEP must not be framed in any other website.
8. You may NOT use the content of the OEP for any purpose other than as set out in this Copyright / IPR Policy without our express written permission. For the express avoidance of doubt, this means you are expressly prohibited from:
8.1 downloading, distributing, reproducing, copying, transmitting, uploading in any medium, incorporating into any other materials or framing in any other websites, any of the OEP or Administrator Mapping Data;
8.2 removing, modifying, altering or using any registered or unregistered trade marks/logos owned by the Administrator, and doing anything which may be seen to take unfair advantage of the reputation and goodwill of the Administrator or could be considered an infringement any of the intellectual property rights owned by or licensed to the Administrator.
9. The Administrator does not claim any ownership rights in any content, material, text drawing, photograph, or other contributions put on the OEP by users (“Submissions”). After posting a Submission you continue to retain all ownership rights in such material, but you thereby grant to the Administrator a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free, worldwide licence to use, copy, edit, alter, reproduce, publish, distribute and/or sub-licence the Submission or any part of it, on or in connection with the OEP and for any other purpose.
