  1. Derwent Water Loop (with Borrowdale) (route)
This route has everything, stunning scenery (e.g. Ashness Bridge), tough climbs (half of Honnister Pass!) and great downhill sections. The rocky downhill section around Castle Crag is particularly tough (if you're a novice/intermediate rider like me) but well worth it when you get to the bottom.
  2. Borrowdale Bash MTB (route)
Start out anywhere in keswick you like, head for borrowdale/grange along road, watch out, tourists can't drive! 3miles in, turn left UP toward ashness bridge, and prepare for ~3miles HARD tarmac climb, worth it! At watendlath (picturesque, cafe in summer) turn right up bridleway near woodland. Technical rocky climb to top, watch for walkers, head across hilside, then down rocky ascent (some drops and roman style drains) and keep turning left toward large hotel + carpark. At road turn left up road toward seatoller/honister pass. Go thru hamlet of seatoller past pub/cafe/carpark (public toilets here) turn right past end of hamlet onto bridleway and climb, climb climb! head north along rocky/gravel path (obvious) back toward keswick/skiddaw. Continue along this bridleway/singletrack for a few miles, few nice bridge crossings, some of it technical, arrive castle crag. Descend down steps (3-400m of them) watch out for the odd wheel sized hole. Nice bits of singletrack and alternative routes/features to play with thru woodland. Arrive grange, another shop/cafe here. Turn left along road, again watch for mindless tourists/bus's. 1mile along road, turn left up bridleway BEFORE woodland up hill toward catbields, you *can* climb inside woodland but unsure of legality of route, climb to top of woods then continue toward keswick/skiddaw. drops and climbs a few times down to the road, the last section is the best, very fast with the odd drain to jump. Drop down to road and follow roadsigns to keswick. Arrive back in keswick happy, and filthy :D
