Follows the Test Valley avoiding too much traffic. I've shown it starting from the Rapids.
!!! The crossing from A3057 into back lanes at Ashfield is horrible going south. If you're not confident enough to get into the middle of the road, DONT TRY pulling into the left, there's no visibility round the corner, just go over the bridge, round the roundabout and back.
Heading south, go under the A35 at Redbridge and there is a signed alleyway immediately on the left to take you up to the A35 cycleway across the south side of the bridge over the the test. (shame there's no zoom on this map - Google has the edge from that point of view!). Again just prior to the turning to Eling there is an signed alleyway from the cyclepath down to road which goes under the A35.
The bridge at the Tide Mill is a toll bridge (bikes and walkers are free) - the Mill is well worth a visit. I've shown the route ending at a little park on banks of the Test / Southampton Water, with a great view of the container terminal.
