  1. BOLLINGTON - WHITE NANCY (route)
Every time you drive from Macclesfield on the Cat and Fiddle road, you probably look left at the ridge back and think it would make a good walk, it does. On arriving at Bollington, follow the signs for the Midford Way and park under the viaduct. Follow the signed path for White Nancy. On reaching the permissive path across private land the path takes a nasty turn upwards all the way to White Nancy. The veiw from the top is spectacular, back across Manchester, and out into the Peak District. The hard part is over, and the walk along the ridge is gentle and effortless, with great rewards on either side. Stay with the wall on your right and eventually the path falls away downhill until it meets the road. Turn right along the main road and take the first road on the right, follow this round past Swanscote Hall and follow the dead end which leads onto a foot path. At this point you can take any of the left turn paths as they all lead down to the canal. One way is to follow the path until it meets a gravel track, and head left down to bridge at the canal. A gentle stroll along the tow path leads back through Bollington past the Discovery Centre, until you reach the point where you can see the cyle track on your left. Turn back on yourself until you reach the viaduct. The cafe at the Discovery Centre is excellent and well worth a visit. All in, a very enjoyable seven miles.
